Let's Imagine Peace

Let's take two minutes to visualize, feel, and imagine complete peace within ourselves. Imagine deep peace flowing from your soul into your heart and then into the mind. Visualize, feel and imagine yourself in that peace at all times and in all circumstances. How does it feel? What types of thoughts preoccupy your mind? How do you treat yourself? How do you treat others? How do you react to people, events, and situations? How would you live your life? What would you do with your time?

Now let's expand this vision of peace to include every living thing on and of the Earth. What would society look like? How would our socially constructed institutions of money, government, and health care embody peace and respect toward every person and living thing? Would the way we do business be the same? Where types of resources would we use?

In my visions every one's needs for food, clothing, electricity, water, education, health care, transportation and respect are taken care of by society. We have more time to spend with our families. People have time to get to know their children, spouses, siblings and friends in such an intimate and profound way our actions would not compromise the well being of another. Despite our differences and individuality everyone is heard and respected because we love each other so much. We would spend more time laughing and having fun and playing. We would continue to excel in sports, intelligence, and the creative arts because people would do what they loved and that joy would emanate from them creating vitality and longevity. Sounds too good to be true? Not if we can imagine it. The more we can imagine the possibilities, the more tangible they become. And we have to start somewhere.

I invite you to join me in seeing, feeling and imagining this world for at least two minutes a day. Lets start putting our faith in hope rather than in fear to create this new world for our children. Let us start with ourselves, within our own minds and hearts.

  1. Like minds! I find this post on my first visit to your blog on the very day I wrote of imagining awakening in a world with out greed, only love.

Thank you for sharing your vision. I look forward to getting to know you here and on the Shift Movement network.

  2. I love your vision of a peaceful world and am in total agreement that the more we imagine it, the better we are able to create it. I've been imagining--and attempting to create a peaceful, good world for a few years now. You can see it in my fiction blog, The Village of Ordinary, and on my companion, non-fiction blog, Building Ordinary, which you've already visited. (Thank you!)

Like you, I spend a few minutes each day visualizing peace. Most mornings, I stand for peace for just 5 minutes, which is a lovely way to start the day.

Do keep these posts coming. They feel like a lifeline to me.
